Alexander Hassenpflug

"Paratopias and the confusion of schizophrenic visual offers"

Alexander Hassenpflug's work evolved towards  the Destruction  of Forms - over paintings and masking of illustrations and printed media. Using the color Photocopier in an experimental way he creates backdrops for his Collages, This semi-analog technique allows Hassenpflug to create work at the boundaries of digital and handmade process. An additional  layer is the language. which is employed  to Exploit the comments and  sub-text  to offer  further interpretation.  The viewer, though aware that the text is grammatical may become baffled by the apparent non-sense nature of the words, and even unsure  of their purpose in the context of the montage. In his work Hassepnpflug uses  - and  abuses advertising aesthetics and reduces  language  into nihilistic fragments. The result is a Grotesque mutation of our over- medialised world .
