David Barbarino

"Assozialer Realismus - The freedom of art production through artistic conduct disorder"

David Barbarino creates paintings, collages and drawings. His works demystify and ridicule, on the one hand the methodlogy of painting, and on the other hand the content of art production itself. Absurd samples create a subtle sarcasm, often upsetting the order of high - and low culture. The works are saturated with quotes, anecdotes, aphorisms and riddles from all kinds of sources purposely misleading the viewer's expectations. His work takes on the theatrical quality of "neo barock exploitation movies", stretching them to an almost kitsch-like absurdity. Form and idea reassemble to a new personal mythology and create new narratives.
