Katarina Burin
Katarina Burin makes posters out of two images of the designer, Eileen Gray, overdrawn with graphite and watercolor. In one, Gray, age 90, with her back to the camera, surveys a late-modern housing estate (of the same era as Hallesches Tor). The other, a photograph of a younger Gray, was the cover of a published survey of her work.
Burin's work often takes on the guise of an outmoded designer's worktable, re-creating and reinterpreting design and architectural drawing, especially in relation to sources that are evocative, often necessarily incomplete. |
